What if it rains?

Blue Fox Travel firmly believes that France is beautiful in all types of weather. That’s why we run all of our tours rain or shine!

If you’ll be joining one of our bike tours we’ve got all of the special gear you’ll need and will lend it to you for free. We provide quality cycling rain ponchos as well as warm gloves in the winter, to all of our bike tour participants, free of charge.

Do we really speak English?
Yes, of course we do! We are all fluent in English, French and Frenglish, a dialect unique to all Blue Fox Travel guides.
Are reservations required?

Yes, due to the purposefully small size of all of our groups, reservations are required for all of our tours and activities. We accept Visa and Mastercard through our online booking system. If you are unable to book online, please send us an email we’ll make the booking manually for you.

How far ahead do I need to book a tour?

Groups fill up very quickly so we recommend that you book well in advance for all of our tours. If you have a party of 4 or more then we recommend that you book at least 2 weeks in advance in order to have your first choice of tour dates and times.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that unexpected events can change your travel plans; for this reason Blue Fox Travel offers a full refund, for any reason, if you cancel more than 24hrs before your reserved tour is scheduled to start.

On regular tours and activities no refunds are given for any reason once within 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled tour.

Please also note that our meeting times are absolute and that if you are late and miss the Meeting Time on your reservation we might not be there waiting for you. Therefore it is very important that you arrive on time if you intend to take our tours! Please plan your travel to our meeting points the day before your tour.

What are your Terms and Conditions for taking a tour?
Can I store my luggages in your office?

You may store small bags in our Paris & Versailles offices only if you booked a bike tour, please tell us before hand to make sure. We cannot store any bags on any other tours. You may bring a small bag on our Day Trips from Paris but no large bags or lugguage of any size.

Bike Tours in Paris

Is biking in Paris safe?
Yes! With more than 700km of bike lanes (and counting) Paris is quickly becoming a cyclists paradise. Remember we are locals and we bike here all the time, so you can trust us to take you on the safest routes that allow you to see the best of our city!
Do I need to pick up my bike before I meet the guide?
Nope, once you meet your guide at the meeting point, he/she will get you all set up with your Blue Bike.
Where do we meet? Where do the bike tours start?
All bike tours taking place in Paris meet in Central Paris at the Place Saint-Michel, in front of the Fountain Saint-Michel. Find your guide with a Blue Bike 15min before the scheduled departure time, in front of the fountain. Click here to see a picture of the exact meeting point.
What is the best way to get to the meeting point?

The Paris metro system is safe, inexpensive and by far the best way to ensure you will be at the meeting point on time.

Where do the Paris bike tours end?
All of our Paris bike tours end in our office located on the Ile de la Cité. It’s just a 2 min walk from Notre-Dame Cathedral and Sainte-Chapelle.
How many people are in a group?

To ensure safety and higher quality time with your guide, our regular Bike Tours in Paris are limited to 12 cyclists per guide. If you have a group bigger than this please contact us for our Private Tour options.

Do I need to be fit?
Our tours have been specially designed for people of all fitness levels. Old, young, round, or thin, we are happy to guide you on our tours through Paris and Versailles. We ride at a leisurely pace and on flat ground for all of our tours.
Do I need to wear a helmet?

French law requires cyclists under 12 years old to wear a helmet, we enforce that rule on all our bike tours. The fine for not doing so is 135€.

Adults are not required to wear a helmet, but feel free to ask for one.

Can I bring my own bike?
Yes you can.
Are children welcomed on the bike tours?

Yes, children of all ages are welcome to join any of our tours. However, we want you to know that our regular tour routes and the historical content which is shared by our guides, was prepared for an adult audience. So please consider how your child(en) behave(s) in a group with other adults before signing up on one of our regular group tours.

If you don't think your little one(s) will have enough stamina or interest in cycling around Paris with so many adults then we encourage you to think about joining us on a private family adventure! We suggest you look into booking an Amazing Race Private bike tour, or any of our other private tours that we offer, where your guide can tailor the route and information shared to be interesting for your whole family!

Are there any breaks during the tours?
The Paris Highlights Bike Tour and Latin Quarter + Le Marais Bike Tour include a 25/30min snack break. Moreover all of the tours stop frequently in front of the monuments and the interesting areas of Paris. So you’ll have lots of time to take pictures and ask questions about what you are seeing.
Do we go inside the monuments?

The Paris Highlights Bike Tour does not include access to any monuments or museums.

The Paris Secrets Bike Tour includes access to the Shakespeare and Co. Bookstore, the Da Vinci Code Church (Saint Sulpice), and the center of the Roman arena.

The Evening Bike + Boat Tour does not include access to any monuments or museums but it does include a 1hr boat cruise on the Seine River with your guide.

All of our Bike Tours in Paris focus on giving people a great introduction to beautiful things to see and visit in Paris however they only lasts 4hrs total. Due to the time restraints we cannot offer more access into buildings or monuments during our tours! However, your guide will provide tips and local tricks about the best way for you to go back and visit the monuments and museums, which interest you the most, later on during your stay. We'll also give you a map at the end of your tour that will help you find all the places and monuments that we visited on your tour.

Will I have enough time to catch the metro back to my hotel after the Evening tour?
Yes, you will have plenty of time and your guide will help you figure out the best route to get you home. Our Evening Bike + Boat Tour finishes around 10PM and the subway closes at 1AM (2AM on Friday and Saturday nights) so no need to worry!
Can I leave the tour early?
Unfortunatly it not possible to leave the tour early.
Can I rent the bicyle after the tour is over?
Unfortunatly we do not rent our Blue Bikes. Paris has the largest bike sharing system in the world and it's very easy to use, there are plenty of "stations" next to our office.

Bike Tours in Versailles

Do I need to carry my bike onto the train?
Blue Fox Travel does not make you carry your Blue Bike onto the train, the bikes for this tour are stored just across the street from the Palace, in Versailles.
We are staying in Versailles, can we start the tour in Versailles?
Yes you can join the tour directly in Versailles. It is very important that you let us know beforehand, please send us an email before making your reservation online
Is biking in Versailles safe?
95% of our Versailles Bike Tour takes place on the Royal grounds of Versailles where there are far more sheep than cars. The rest of the tour is in the small town of Versailles, on dedicated bike lanes.
What is included in the tour prices?

Tour price includes:

  • Reserved entrance tickets to the Palace
  • Grand & Petit Trianons entrance tickets
  • Domain of Marie-Antoinette entrance ticket
  • Round Trip train tickets to/from Versailles
  • Bike rental

Lunch not included in tour price.

Where do we meet? Where do the bike tour start?
The Versailles Bike Tour meets in Central Paris, outside of a train station named Gare Saint-Lazare. Find your guide 15min before the scheduled departure time, in front of the Starbucks Coffee located at 2 Rue de la Pépinière. Don't be late, you might miss the train! Click here to see a picture of the exact meeting point. FYI: you will take the train to Versailles with your guide.
Where does the Versailles Bike Tour end?
At the end of the cycling part of the tour, you will be taken into the main Palace. You'll have free time to visit the Palace on your own, at your own pace with an audio-guide. After your visit of the Palace, you may go back to Paris (train ticket provided by Blue Fox Travel) or spend more time in the French Gardens. During summer, the French Gardens close at 8PM. Last train leaves Versailles back to Paris at 11PM.
How many people are in a group?
Because the Versailles Bike Tour is a naturally safe route, taking place in an enclosed park, we allow up to 14 people to join us on this tour.
Do I need to be fit?
Our tours have been specifically designed for people of all fitness levels. Old, young, round, or thin, we are happy to guide you on our tours through the grounds of Versailles. We ride at a leisurely pace and on flat ground. Total cycling during the Versailles Bike Tour : 1.5hrs. Our Adult bikes can handle anyone weighing 110 kilos (242lbs) or less.
Do I need to wear a helmet?

French law requires cyclists under 12 years old to wear a helmet, we enforce that rule on all our bike tours. The fine for not doing so is 135€.

Adults are not required to wear a helmet, but feel free to ask for one.

Can I bring my own bike?
Yes you can. Be aware that we take a train to Versailles, you will have to put your bike in the train, which can be busy during weekdays.
What & When is the Musical Fountain Show?
The Musical Fountain Show takes place in the French gardens attached to the main Palace which is only accessible by foot. During the show all of the fountains are turned on and 15th century music plays throughout the gardens.
It takes place on most week-ends between April and October and some Tuesdays in spring. Note that the fountains only run 1h in the morning and 2 hrs in the afternoon.
Is the Musical Fountain Show included in tour price?

Tickets to the Musical Fountain Show are included in our tour price only for participants who select the “Adults" fare. For Kids and Paris Museum Passes : tickets can be purchased directly on site if desired. Please note that these tickets are not necessary to have during our tour, you can visit the Fountain Show on your own after our tour is over.

Does the tour go inside the Palace?

After the cycling part of the tour is over, we provide reserved entry into the Palace. There you will have unlimited time inside with an audio-guide so you can focus on the rooms that interest you the most.

FYI: During the tour you will also be entering two other small chateaux (the Petit and Grand Trianons) and exploring the private village and domain of Marie-Antoinette.

What time will I get back to Paris?
Usually people get back to Paris between 6 and 6:30PM depending on how much time they spent in the Palace & French Gardens. The last train back to Paris leaves Versailles at 11PM.
Can I leave the tour early?
Unfortunatly it not possible to leave the tour early.
What are the Paris Museum Paris and Paris Pass?

The Paris Museum Pass is a visitor pass that gives unlimited and free access to most museums in the Paris Region for the number of days you purchased it (2,4 or 6 consecutive days). The Paris Museum Pass includes free access to the Palace of Versailles, the Grand & Petit Trianons as well as the Domain of Marie-Antoinette (Hameau de la Reine in French). You are entitle to a Reduced Fare on our tour if you are in possession of a valid Paris Museum Pass on the day of your tour. Please note that you cannot buy the Paris Museum Pass during our tour; If you booked for the Reduced Fare, you must have a valid Paris Museum Pass at the start of your tour.

The Paris Pass is another visitor pass that includes a transportation card as well as the Paris Museum Pass (cited above), it is hence, more expensive than the Paris Museum Pass alone. The Paris Pass in itself does not give you free access to the Palace of Versailles but the Paris Museum Pass included in it does.

Can I reserve with the Reduced Fare option?

The Reduced Fare is only applicable to:

  • Kids under 18 (no matter the nationality)*
  • Europeans under 26 (if you are not European but have a European student visa of at least 6months, you are also in that category)*
  • Paris Museum Pass holder (must be valid on the day of your tour, cannot be bought on the day of the tour)

*proof will be asked everytime you enter a building on the grounds. Make sure to bring it (a good photocopy of your passport will do)

If your situation is not included above (Reduced Fare), then you must book for the Regular Fare.

What about the picnic in case of bad weather?

When the weather is not suitable enough for a picnic on the grass by the lake, we always have the option of sitting down in a heated and covered restaurant terrace where you can order warm drinks and enjoy your picnic supplies purchased at the market.

Can I bring my lugguage in the Eiffel Tower?
Lugguages bigger than a carry on are not allowed in the Eiffel Tower.

Unfortunatly only a staircase gives access to the top of the towers.

Day Trips From Paris

Are children welcomed?
We're sorry to disappoint but children under the age of 7 years old are not allowed on these tours. Our Day Trips from Paris were designed for an adult audience. Children who are 7 years and older are welcome to join the Day Trips but we do not offer any discounts for them. If you have children that are under 7 years old and would still like to join us on one of our Day Trips Please send us an email with your family details in it. We will then check and see if a guide is available to offer you a Private Family tour which is more adapted to your children's needs.
What time do we get back to Paris?
You will find this information on the dedicated page of each tour. Please keep in mind that we are dependant on the traffic conditions and that times are not absolute.
Can the driver pick me up from my hotel?
This service is only provided if the tour is privatised. We do not offer that service on regular tours.
Can the driver drop me off at my hotel?
This service is only provided if the tour is privatised. We do not offer that service on regular tours. If it is more convenient for you, you may exit the vehicule at any point on the route by asking the driver.
Can I carry some Champagne bottles back to Paris?
Of course you can. Space is limited in the vehicle but we can easily fit one case of 6 bottles per person.
Do the vehicles have A/C?
Yes they do.
Will we have bathroom stops?
Yes, every stops have bathroom access. On the autoroute (highway) we'll have a bathroom stop after 2hrs.
Is lunch included in tour price?
Lunch is not included in tour price. You will have different options on site, you may also bring your lunch if you wish to.
